Battle of the Red Soles

Effectively. This week's event? Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent are fighting each other, claiming the right of the French shoemaker's symbolic trademark: the red sole. Since 1992, the famous stiletto designer doesn't do without this distinctive characteristic, apparently patented in the USA, but YSL having recently produced a collection featuring red-soled shoes despite Louboutin's warning, the latter decided to sue the luxury giant to the court of Manhattan, demanding 1 million dollars in damages. The excuse for this? "Commercial trademark violation" and "disloyal competition". Enough to push the shoemaker to create a blog where, among other things, a public list of false Louboutins-selling websites can be consulted:

All this goes without mentioning the fact that Louboutin is also trying to stamp its shoe on Carmen Steffens, a Brazilian designer, who features red-soled shoes in her collection as well, but according to her, she started producing these before Louboutin got interested by the whole idea. The proof? Catalogs dating from 1996. Well, well...
How will all this end? Can Louboutin actually go against not only a big company like YSL, but also a practice spread throughout the entire world: fashion forgery? In any case, his Stop Fake website keeps us nicely informed of the massive destruction of thousands of fake Louboutins around the planet.

  3. Thanks for the comments, girls!
I chose to paint the shoes in different animal prints to depict them as if they were wildly fighting each other...
It isn't based on any real design from either of both designers...

    Thanks again!
