Bench-breaking news

That's it, there were lots of reasons to cry this morning at Balenciaga (the dismay felt by the fashion crowd when realizing that the benches weren't solid enough to hold even Vanessa Traina's weight), but none greater than the sighting of the fantastic collection our dear Nicolas Ghesquière has prepared for next summer.
Yeah, I know, we've seen the color-blocking trend everywhere this summer, but this is not just any color-blocking number.
Ghesquière presented a square-shaped series of satin jackets, with attractive layering and even more compelling color contrasts featuring metallic tones: silver, copper and dashes of gold.
Although the Gauguin-esque prints didn't convince me very much, something else did: the small shorts, a major highlight of the show. Accessories didn't stand out much, but neat color-patching and lovely cigarette pants were both aesthetically appealing, as well as a nice little touch: OVNI hats.

A standing ovation for Nicolas? In any case, there was no choice.
